Travelling to and from Edinburgh Airport
There is a selection of options for travelling to and from Edinburgh Airport.
Car Hire – there are several car rental options all located within the one consolidated area at Edinburgh Airport close to the terminal.
Taxi – Taxis and private hire vehicles are located on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park opposite the main terminal building. You can also book a private hire vehicle in advance.
Bus – Buses to Edinburgh and other local destinations stop on the terminal forecourt, outside the main entrance.
Buses into Edinburgh
Airlink 100 (Stop D)
This express bus service runs from the airport to Waverley Bridge (near Princes Street and the main rail and bus stations).
Buy tickets in advance online, from Visit Scotland by UK Arrivals, at the bus stop, or from the driver
- Frequency: Every 10 minutes.
- Journey time: 30 minutes approximately
Night bus N22 (Stop D)
This service runs from the airport via South Gyle to the city centre and on to Ocean Terminal in Leith between 00:45 and 04:15, seven nights a week.
- Frequency: Every 30 minutes.
- Journey time: 28 minutes
Service 35 (Stop F)
This Lothian Buses service runs to the city centre and on to Ocean Terminal, with stops including RBS World Headquarters, the Scottish Parliament and the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Buses run every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime and every 30 minutes evenings and Sundays.
- Frequency: Every 15 minutes.
- Journey time: About an hour depending on traffic.
Fare: Single £1.60, DAYticket £4.00 (reductions for children).
Tram – Trams link the airport and the city centre. Interchange with rail services is available at Edinburgh Park and Haymarket stations. Other stops include Murrayfield Stadium and Princes Street. Full details can be found on the Edinburgh Trams website.

- Journey time: average journey time 35 minutes
- Fare: Adult single £5.50, adult return £8.50 (reductions for children)
Tickets can be purchased from the ticket machines at the tram halt.
Bicycle – Edinburgh Airport is 1km to the north of the local cycle path network, linked by Eastfield Road. Cyclists heading towards Edinburgh are advised to follow the road under the A8 and join the cycle path on the south side of the A8. Cyclists heading either west or north are advised to join the cycle path on the north side of the A8 heading west.
There is a bicycle parking rack and shelter in front of the International Arrivals entrance, across the forecourt from the terminal building.
