Guarding the Great Glen on the shores of Loch Ness, the Abbey has a long and often turbulent history that stretches back to the days of Culloden and Bonnie Prince Charlie. In 1876 the Lovat Estate leased the ground to a Benedictine Order of Monks who built a Monastery and later a school.

Minutes from the apartments the very pretty village of Fort Augustus lies on the banks of the Caledonian Canal, with a succession of locks and a wonderful swing bridge that takes boats onto Loch Ness.
